It is not the only alternative conflict-resolution system to lawsuits, but it is the one that yields the most solid, quickest results because the agreements are constructed by the parties themselves with the assistance of the mediator.

It is a quick, voluntary process which is much cheaper than lawsuits, which in this context is only the last resort if there is no way for the parties to reach partial or total agreement.
One of the main characteristics of mediation is that all the parties get involved and create a win-win solution. Otherwise, in a lawsuit, the judge decides, and one party wins while the other loses.
The guarantee of the professionals who act as mediators is the one governing the main informants of mediation, which are the voluntary action of the parties (there is no mediation if the parties don’t want it), the confidentiality of the process (the information that arises during the mediation stays in the mediation and cannot be used outside the process) and the impartiality and neutrality of the mediator (in addition to being impartial, the mediator cannot offer solutions but instead only ushers through the process).
