The Generalitat approves aid for the self-employed

Nov 4, 2020 | Last news

The self-employed are the group most affected by the pandemic because, when the activity ceases, they lose income. That is why the Generalitat is offering help to the self-employed affected by the new measures to prevent the second wave of the Covid-19. The plan consists of a single benefit of 2,000 euros, from which about 10,000 people can benefit. The new aid offered by the Generalitat for the self-employed has the format of a single payment benefit and aims to maintain economic activity.

It is a similar and complementary program to the one launched last March, despite the fact that this aid from the Generalitat only covers a very small part of the volume of self-employed in Catalonia (around half a million self-employed) . In April, 8,869 people benefited from the program launched.

We have already seen various measures by the Government to soften the measures that are being taken, such as the 50% reduction in rent on the premises affected by the restrictions.

What are the requirements to apply for help?

  • Have a tax domicile in Catalonia.
  • Have an income of less than 35,000 euros in 2019 and have three quarters with less than 13,125 euros of income this year..

Please note that the aid is compatible with other public benefits. The benefit is for both self-employed individuals and those who contribute to the self-employed scheme but are employed in a micro-enterprise. In the case of self-employed people who are part of a society, such as cooperative members, the company must not have more than six members in this scheme.
